Is it Significant for Preschools in NYC to Provide a Holistic Education?

Being a New Yorker you would know the value of communal harmony and respect towards diverse cultures. Blending in effortlessly into a culturally diverse community is not unusual for the residents of NYC. Well, the tiny tots old enough to go to preschools are not just the future of NYC but of the entire USA.

So, if you’re a parent eagerly scavenging among numerous preschools in NYC for your little one, wondering what is more important – textbook pedagogic learning or a holistic education – the answer is a holistic one. Here are a couple of factors of an all-inclusive learning that preschools must comprise of:

A Curriculum Cohesive of Various Elements

What your child learns in preschool, rather, what preschools inculcate in children is crucial for the overall development of their personalities as they grow up. Children between the ages of two to five don’t learn just from lessons in books, everything in their environment teaches them something essential.

The duty of good schools is to provide teacher-guided curriculum programs through which children learn basic and essential values (for instance, sharing, kindness, acceptance, etc.) that assist in their individual development. The responsibility of teachers must be to impart interactive and engaging planned lessons, along with learning by the means of self-guided exploration.

A Balanced Involvement of Technology

We cannot deny the fact that technology is taking over the world at an accelerated pace. While some may find our dependency on technology a bit too much, but debating about the complete annihilation of it from our kid’s life is as unwise as it is impossible.

A complete dependency on technology in early childhood should not be the main objective. But its balanced involvement, by the means of learning through smart boards, interactive boards, cameras, and iPads contribute as including technology in a holistic education which is necessary for any school in New York.

The aim of using technology can also be of harvesting the love of learning and knowledge by modern means of education. Many of us believe that technology has isolated individuals, true as that may be, the target of bringing together all children to work in harmony can be achieved by technologically based projects such as photographing and presenting their works or documenting their projects in videos.
